Homework for next Tuesday is to read 1/3 of your book and prepare your role for the book circle.
The roles are:
Discussion leader and illustrator:
It is your job to be in control of the discussion, and you decide when each member of the group gets the time to report his or her task. You should always start by making everyone feel welcome to the meeting. You go through each member’s role and let them all know in which order you think they should report the task. After this is done you ask the group questions about what you all have read so far. When you create the questions you must base them on the different hats, one question from the yellow hat and one from the green hats perspective and so on. Make sure you have at least one question from each hat. After everyone has presented their assignment you end the group discussion and thank everyone for the nice discussion.
You will also hand in some kind of drawing/picture of something you found interesting in those pages you have written so far in the book. You can make it on paper or you can do something on the computer, it is up to you to find a creative way to do the assignment. You need to either post it on the blog or hand it in to your teacher.
Summarizer and character tracer:
This person should write a summary of what has happened in the story, in those pages you have read for each week, and be able to retell it to the group. Your text should be at least 150 words. You must also be prepared to answer questions; if there will be any after your summary.
As the character tracer you should, in your own words, describe a character from the book. Give examples on how you think he or she is as a person, perhaps nice or horrible. You need to tell why you think that. To prove your point you need to describe him or her with the use from an episode in the book where the characters personality is displayed, either in personality or in the way he or she acts. Is it possible to find some connecting things between yourself and the character? If so write about this connection and if not explain why you think not. This text should be at least 150 words. You should retell your findings during the group discussion.
Creative connector and wordfinder:
This time you need to find something in the text where you can find a connection between the story and something from real life, and write it down. This means you can get a scene from the book and tell about it and then tell something from real life which is similar to this scene. Then write why you think they could be connected to each other. You need to write at least 150 words in this text. You should retell it during the discussion in the group.
As a wordfinder you should look for difficult words in the text and translate them into Swedish, and with these words you make a wordlists. You need to find at least 20 words. With the use of 10 of those words you should write down your own sentences where you put them in, in order to make them more understandable. You can not take the sentences in the book, you must create new ones. Finally you should create some kind of wordgame where you use the words you have found in the book.
Good luck /Josefin and Camilla
